As a child growing up on a Kentucky farm, John Michael Montgomery played in his family’s country music band, Harold Montgomery and the Kentucky River Express. In 1991, an agent from Atlantic Records discovered Montgomery in the Austin City Saloon in Lexington, Kentucky.

His debut album Life’s A Dance (1993) was certified quadruple-platinum and its title track rose to number one on the charts. In 1994, he released Kickin’ It Up, which produced three number one country singles “I Swear,” “Be My Baby Tonight” and “If You’ve Got Love.” He followed with several successful albums, such as his self-titled release in 1995 featuring the single “I Can Love You Like That,” winner of the BMI and ASCAP Song of the Year awards, and “Sold (the Grundy County Auction Incident),” the Billboard Country Single of The Year. He received the Country Music Association’s prestigious Horizon Award for the top newcomer in 1994. Overall, he has sold more than 16 million albums and has posted 15 number one singles.

The title track from Letters From Home (2004) reached number five on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart.

As an outdoorsman, he hosted a trade show, the John Michael Montgomery Hunting and Fishing Show in Bardstown, Kentucky in 2006, with his local hunting and fishing buddies, Chuck Filiatreau and Steve Nally. He still lives on a Kentucky farm and spends most of the year there working on his music, reserving only 50 or 60 days for summer touring.

Montgomery created his own record label Stringtown Records in 2007. His latest release and 10th studio album, Time Flies, includes the Top 40 country hit, “Forever.”

John Michael Montgomery is part of the Belle Tire Concert Series.
