Texas-raised Clay Walker began performing professionally at local venues by age 16. Walker’s first single “What’s It To You,” from his self-titled debut album, shot to number one in the fall of 1993. The release yielded two more number one hits, “Live Until I Die” and “Dreaming With My Eyes Open.” The album’s success earned Walker Best New Male Vocalist honors from the Academy of Country Music and Country Song Roundup’s readers’ poll.
Walker solidified his position within the country music industry by following with three platinum-selling albums, If I Could Make a Living (1994), Hypnotize The Moon (1995) and Rumor Has It (1997), and two number one songs, “This Woman and This Man” and “Then What.”
Walker’s fifth album, Live, Love, Laugh (1999) was paced by the single “The Chain of Love,” which garnered Walker his 11th number one hit.
The single “Say No More” hit Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart in 2001, sparking the release of an album of the same name later that year. His seventh album, A Few Questions (2003), was featured on the Billboard Top Selling Country Albums chart for 24 weeks and reached number 23 on Billboard’s 200 Top-Selling Albums chart.
Walker’s most recent album, Fall (2007), featured the hit singles “‘Fore She Was Mama,” “Workin’ Man” and “Mexico.” The album reached number 15 on the Billboard’s 200 Top Selling Albums chart and number five on the Top Country Albums chart.
