An Evening With Anita Baker

Multiple Grammy Award winner, composer, producer, mother and all-around superstar – Anita Baker is singing to sold-out audiences again this summer. Headlining three major festivals, Ms. Baker has played to nearly 100,000 adoring fans in the last four months, with additional dates taking her through the end of the year. She will perform at DTE Energy Music Theatre on Friday, July 31 at 8 p.m.

The Essence Festival in New Orleans experienced record attendance numbers this year, topping 428,000 attendees, in large part due to Ms. Baker’s headlining appearance on Saturday, July 4. Other highlights of her recent dates include a headlining appearance in front of 18,000 fans at the African American Heritage Festival in Baltimore, MD on July 5, and a stop at the OC SuperFair in Costa Mesa, CA on July 18 to headline at the beautiful Pacific Amphitheater.

Ms. Baker continues her tour this Monday, July 27 with a stop at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Concert Series in Brooklyn, NY. A hometown engagement on Friday, July 31 at Detroit, MI’s DTE Energy Music Theatre begins the weekend, ending with another festival headlining spot, at the Cincinnati Music Jazz Festival in Ohio on Saturday, August 1.

With such a strong showing on the summer touring circuit this year, agents are clamoring to have their artists on the bill with Ms. Baker. The woman who introduced the world to “fireside love songs” and such classic gems as “Giving You The Best That I Got,” “Just Because,” “Sweet Love” and “Fairy Tales,” will continue entertaining her fans through the end of 2009.
