Newsboys formed in Australia in the late 1980s by bassist Sean Taylor, vocalist John James and drummer Peter Furler. They debuted their first major label album, Step Up to the Microphone, in 1998 followed by their sophomore album, Love Liberty Disco, a year later.

Other albums included a greatest hits package, Shine…The Hits, in 2000 followed by Thrive in 2002, which led to their biggest Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) hit, “It Is You.” They also released Newsboys Remixed (2002), Adoration: The Worship Album (2003), Devotion (2004), Go (2006) and a live album, Newsboys Live: Houston We Are Go, in 2008.

In January, guitarist Paul Colman announced he would be leaving the Newsboys to work on his own solo projects, and at the same time it was announced Jody Davis would return to the band, after a five-year hiatus. In March the Newsboys announced Michael Tait, formerly of dc Talk, would be the group’s new lead singer. Founding member and former lead singer Peter Furler would make special appearances with the group, but would focus his attention on songwriting and production for future Newsboys recordings.

The Newsboys latest release and 13th studio album, In the Hands of God, was released in May. It marked the first album the band released since the departure of Furler, and although he sings all the songs on the album, Tait will perform vocal duties during the tour. The album reached number two on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart and number 28 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The Newsboys’ current roster consists of Tait (lead vocals), Duncan Phillips (drums), Jeff Frankenstein (keys, bass, vocals) and Davis (guitar, vocals).

Superchick, a Chicago-based Christian rock band, formed in 1999 and released their debut album, Karaoke Superstars in 2001. Other albums include Last One Picked (2002), Beauty From Pain (2005) and Beauty From Pain 1.1 (2006).

Several of their songs have been featured on television and movies including “Anthem,” the theme song for MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet 2, “We Live,” the theme song for the ABC series Brothers & Sisters and “One Girl Revolution,” which was used in the film Legally Blonde.

Their newest album, Rock What You Got, was released last June and reached number two on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart.

Superchick consists of Tricia Brock (vocals/guitar), Dave Ghazarian (guitar), Melissa Brock (vocals/guitar), Max Hsu (DJ/keyboards), Brandon Estelle (drums) and Matt Dally (bass/vocals).

Sevenglory is an American Christian pop rock band formed in Indiana in 2001 by Fred Butson and Gabe Johannes who lived in the same suite at Indiana Wesleyan University. Their debut album was Over The Rooftops (2006) and their second and latest release is Atmosphere (2007), which includes singles “Just Me,” “Let It Be Love” and “The Best Is Yet to Come.”

Sevenglory is Butson (lead vocal, guitar), Johannes (percussion, background vocals) and brother Caleb Johannes (bass, background vocals) and Josh Parsons (lead guitar).

Newsboys with special guests Superchick and Sevenglory is part of the Belle Tire Concert Series.
