DTE Hosts 5 Sellouts in 10 Days
DTE ENERGY MUSIC THEATRE HOSTS FIVE SELLOUTS IN 10 DAYS PS&E VENUES ENJOY FAST START TO 2010 SUMMER CONCERT SCHEDULE
DTE Energy Music Theatre recently enjoyed one of the most successful stretches in its 20 summers of Palace Sports & Entertainment (PS&E) ownership with a red hot period of five sold out shows in 10-days from June 18-27. The string of sellouts included the Backstreet Boys with Mindless Behavior on June 18, Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band on June 22, Dave Matthews Band with Martin Sexton on June 23, Lynyrd Skynyrd with Bret Michaels and 38 Special on June 24, and Foreigner and Styx with Kansas on June 27. DTE Energy Music Theatre’s five sellout stretch maintains the fast start to the summer concert season for PS&E’s three venues. Meadow Brook Music Festival enjoyed a full house for its season opener when Drake with K-OS and Francis and the Lights brought their Campus Consciousness Tour on April 15, The Palace hosted a capacity crowd when Carole King and James Taylor kicked off the long Memorial Day weekend with a May 27 performance and DTE Energy Music Theatre’s traditional opener Eddie Money hosted a sold out show at the venue on May 28. “We are thrilled by the turnout for our shows this summer and especially pleased by our recent stretch of sold out concerts,” said Alan Ostfield, President and CEO of PS&E. “We are working harder than ever to provide our guests a great environment to enjoy their favorite performers and we are committed to provide affordable price points so they can continue to be entertained throughout the remainder of the summer and beyond.” PS&E ownership includes The Palace and DTE Energy Music Theatre, as well as the management of Meadow Brook Music Festival on the campus of Oakland University. Combined, PS&E’s Michigan venues average 300 events and 3.5 million guests annually. The Palace has been voted Arena of the Year eight times by Performance magazine, twice by Pollstar magazine and is listed annually among North America’s top-grossing arenas. Voted “Best Outdoor Concert Venue” in Pollstar’s 2000 Readers’ Poll, DTE Energy Music Theatre has been listed as the nation’s most attended amphitheater by Amusement Business/Billboard each of the 19 years of PS&E ownership.
