With the heart of folk music at his core, David Gray’s mix of acoustic and electronic instrumentation has established him as one of the U.K.’s leading music artists both at home and overseas. With a career now spanning more than 15 years and nearly 12 million album sales, Gray’s commercial success is also backed up by a critical consensus and countless accolades, including a BAFTA nomination (for his soundtrack work on Amma Assante’s 2004 film A Way Of Life), two Ivor Novello awards for songwriting, a Q Award for “Best Single,” two Brit nominations for “Best Male” and a Grammy nomination for “Best New Artist.” Gray has reached number one on the U.K. Album charts with his releases, White Ladder (1998), A New Day at Midnight (2002) and Life in Slow Motion (2005). His eighth and latest release is Draw The Line (2009), and it marked his third consecutive album to reach the Top 20 charts in the U.S. Nashua, New Hampshire’s Ray LaMontagne moved to Lewiston, Maine where he was working at a shoe factory when he heard the song “Treetop Flyer” from Stephen Stills’ Stills Alone album. The song inspired him to quit his job and become a musician. Since then, he has released three albums, Trouble (2004), Till the Sun Turns Black (2006) and Gossip in the Grain (2008). Gossip In The Grain achieved the Maine singer-songwriter’s highest chart number debuting at number three on the Billboard charts, and was a huge digital sensation becoming the top selling album on iTunes the week of its release. The song “You Are the Best Thing” was featured in the movie I Love You, Man. David Gray and Ray LaMontagne with special guest Serena Ryder are part of the Belle Tire Concert Series.
