Beware of Counterfeit Event Tickets Sold Through Unauthorized Vendors
Palace Sports & Entertainment and Ticketmaster Cooperating With PoliceApr 18, 2013
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Tickets for the July 18 Bon Jovi Because We Can – The Tour at Ford Field go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8. But Palace Sports & Entertainment is encouraging ticket buyers to exercise caution when purchasing tickets to all concerts, events and Detroit Pistons games and use authorized ticket outlets to make their purchases.
In recent months, PS&E officials have seen a significant increase in counterfeit tickets sold on the secondary market or classifieds sites, including discovering hundreds of fraudulent tickets for some concerts playing at The Palace and DTE Energy Music Theatre like the Dave Matthews Band, Carrie Underwood and Justin Bieber shows. PS&E and Ticketmaster are cooperating with Michigan State Police investigation of a suspect who allegedly sold counterfeit tickets for concerts at The Palace on a classifieds site. Charges are pending.
“Counterfeiters and scalpers are getting better at what they do and fans often can’t tell they’re buying fraudulent tickets,” said Dennis Mannion, PS&E president and CEO. “We are always working to protect the fans and provide the best possible experience when they come to The Palace or any of our venues – and the safest way to get tickets is through the venue and Ticketmaster.”
Fans attempting to gain entry with a fraudulent ticket will not be admitted to The Palace, DTE Energy Music Theatre or Meadowbrook Music Festival and could be subject to investigation.
The only way to guarantee the validity of your ticket is to purchase it directly from PS&E at our online Ticket Store, in-person or by phone at 248.377.0100, at Pistons.com or from Ticketmaster. Fans with questions about the validity of tickets not purchased from PS&E or Ticketmaster should visit The Palace of Auburn Hills Ticket Store during regular business hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday or call your local law enforcement agency.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m., Feb. 9 for Train’s July 18 Mermaids of Alcatraz 2013 Tour concert at DTE Energy Music Theatre and at 10 a.m., Feb. 11 for Beyoncé’s July 20 The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour concert at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
